Max Pittion Dumas 44 Sunglasses

Named for Alexandre Dumas, the novelist and playwright, and reimagined from the Max Pittion archives. The construction echoes the 1950s frame but substitutes Japanese titanium for the material-covered Monel, handmade in Japan by legendary craftsmen. A round frame with mid-center connections and a bold, rounded bump nose. The connections are slotted and vertically milled to accept a cylinder hinge insert, held by a bottom screw, with a protruding bar that locks the closure when opened. The titanium temples fold back from the locking bar and taper into a four-sided, multi-pressed shape, finished with an acetate "Modan" temple piece secured from the back by a custom MAP screw. An educated, scholarly look that hides a few clever deviations.
