Why Press at Visionary Optics?

PRESS Eyewear is the namesake brand of Jeff Press, who launched it in spring 2024 after nearly three decades shaping the modern American luxury eyewear industry. Press began his career at Robert Marc NYC in 1996, became Designer of Morgenthal Frederics in 2006 under Richard Morgenthal, and was named Chief Creative Officer of Luxury Optical Holdings in 2018 — building his own brand around Japanese titanium and Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate.

Visionary Optics carries PRESS Eyewear at our Upper East Side and Chelsea boutiques, with strong inventory in both pure-titanium models (Stingray, Bel Air, Sunday Morning) and combination titanium-acetate models (The Rebel, The Song, The Bribe). Each frame is handcrafted in Japan in small batches.

What makes PRESS Eyewear special?

PRESS is built around materials first. Jeff Press describes himself as a textile creator for eyewear, and the frames are constructed from Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate and pure Japanese titanium, factory fitted with ZEISS bio-nylon lenses, OBE spring hinges, and silicon coated titanium nose pads. Production runs in small batches, and limited edition styles are made in runs of about fifty pieces.

Where is PRESS Eyewear made?

PRESS frames are designed in New York by Jeff Press and handcrafted in Japan in small batches. Acetate models use Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate in thicknesses up to 9.5mm, and titanium models are made from pure block titanium with a triple plating technique that gives each surface its own finish.

How much do PRESS glasses cost?

Most PRESS frames range from approximately $625 to $825, with the full selection running from about $575 to $1,025. Bio-acetate models sit in the lower part of the range, while pure titanium models with plated detailing cost more.

Who is Jeff Press?

Jeff Press spent nearly three decades in American luxury eyewear before launching his own brand in spring 2024. He began his career at Robert Marc NYC in 1996, became Designer of Morgenthal Frederics in 2006 under Richard Morgenthal, and was named Chief Creative Officer of Luxury Optical Holdings in 2018. He was admitted to the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2015 and has collaborated with Rag and Bone, Oscar de la Renta, Monse, and Rosie Assoulin.

What are the different PRESS collections?

PRESS organizes its frames into storylines rather than seasons. Dreamers draws on the metals of the 1990s in pure titanium. Legends reimagines iconic artists in bold bio-acetate with precious plated details. Timeless uses vintage-inspired tones with custom wire cores and tension hinges. Carved is sculpted from block titanium, Punks is inspired by moments in music, and Barracuda is the brand's cat eye. Limited Editions are produced in runs of about fifty pieces.

Can I get PRESS frames with prescription lenses?

Yes. Every PRESS optical frame at Visionary Optics can be fit with ZEISS prescription lenses, and most single vision prescriptions are ready the same day. We also fit progressive and specialty lens prescriptions, and we can fit prescription lenses into PRESS sunglasses.
