Designed in Paris and Tokyo and handmade in small batches in Sabae, Japan, each frame pairs custom cotton-based Takiron acetate with high-grade titanium, finished with details like hand-lacquered inserts and gold or silver plating. From the sculptural Stratosphere to the playful Boite, Sauvage sunglasses and eyeglasses bring a distinctly French edge to Japanese craft. Sauvage is an independent eyewear house designed between Paris and Tokyo, a deliberate exchange between French design instinct and Japanese craft. Its French model names, from Boite and Phaedo to Lady Jane and Symposium, sit on frames handmade in Sabae, the town in Japan's Fukui prefecture long regarded as the heart of the country's eyewear industry.
Every frame is hand finished in small batches. The acetate styles are cut from cotton-based Takiron acetate, while metal styles such as the titanium Stratosphere pair high grade titanium and gold or silver plating with hand-lacquered inserts for presence without the weight. Sun models are fitted with Shima Optics lenses.
