Why Titanium Museum at Visionary Optics?

Titanium Museum catalogues its own work the way a museum catalogues a collection. Releases are issued as numbered accessions rather than seasons, and styles are filed into three departments: Artifacts and Specimens, Scrapology, and The Happy Smile Club. Components other designers hide are exposed and enlarged, and the temple-end assembly forms a letter T that stands in place of a logo.

Visionary Optics is an Authorized Retailer for Titanium Museum. The first delivery is eight styles across Accessions I, II and III, in one colourway each. Every one is a pair of sunglasses with a titanium frame and steel screws, and each carries a stated lens category between CAT 1 and CAT 3. The catalogue states an edition size for each style.

Titanium Museum frames are kept at our Chelsea shop at 173 7th Avenue. There is no online price and no cart while retail pricing is still to be published. Call (212) 627-4488 to hear what is on the tray. You can see the frame in person or have it invoiced and shipped, and our opticians will fit it with ZEISS prescription lenses if you want them.

The Visionary Optics Difference

Authorized Retailer

Visionary Optics is an Authorized Retailer for Titanium Museum. Every frame is 100% authentic.

Accessions, Not Seasons

Titanium Museum records a release the way a museum records an object entering a collection. The first delivery spans Accessions I through III, and the catalogue states an edition size for each style.

Titanium, Exposed

Titanium frames with steel screws, where the screws and hinges are enlarged into visible design features rather than hidden away.

Seen In Person Or Shipped

These are single pieces from small editions, kept at Chelsea. See one in person or have it invoiced and shipped. Our opticians fit the frame and handle prescription sun lenses in house.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Titanium Museum?
Titanium Museum is an eyewear practice that presents itself as a museum. Releases are issued as numbered accessions instead of seasons, and styles are filed into three departments: Artifacts and Specimens, which collects engineered titanium works with subtle cracks and mineralised surfaces; Scrapology, which leaves surfaces unpolished so oxidation and patina are allowed rather than designed out; and The Happy Smile Club, a developing department for experimental works. The practice traded under an earlier name between 2023 and 2025 and adopted the name Titanium Museum in 2025.
What does Accession I, II or III mean?
An accession is the museum term for an object formally entering a collection and being recorded in it, and Titanium Museum uses it in place of a season. Accession I is the earliest work in this delivery and Accession III the most recent. Soft Brutalism and Trypophiliac are Accession I. Noise Complaint, Trachysynthetic, Scrapology 01 and For Your Smiling Face are Accession II. Specimen 01 and Specimen 02 are Accession III. The catalogue states an edition size for each style.
What are Titanium Museum frames made from?
Every style in this delivery has a titanium frame with steel screws. The catalogue records titanium nose pads on every style except Scrapology 01, which uses a nose stand instead. Spring hinges are specified on the Accession II and Accession III styles; the Accession I spec blocks carry no hinge row, so we do not state one. Each colourway has a stated lens category between CAT 1 and CAT 3, which describes the tint density of the lens.
Which Titanium Museum styles does Visionary Optics carry?
The first delivery is eight styles in one colourway each: Soft Brutalism and Trypophiliac from Accession I; Noise Complaint, Trachysynthetic, Scrapology 01 and For Your Smiling Face from Accession II; and Specimen 01 and Specimen 02 from Accession III. The five finishes here are Black Texture, Bronze, Earth Mineral, Hello Yellow and Polished Raw Metal. Eye sizes run from 45 to 53. Because these are small editions, what is physically on hand changes, so call (212) 627-4488 before making the trip for a particular style.
How much do Titanium Museum sunglasses cost?
Retail pricing for Titanium Museum has not been published yet, and we will not put a number on this page that we then have to take back. We do not quote Titanium Museum prices by email; once pricing is set we will give it to you in the shop or over the phone at (212) 627-4488, where we can also tell you what is still available.
Can I get Titanium Museum sunglasses with prescription lenses?
Yes. Every style in this delivery is a pair of sunglasses, and prescription sun lenses can be fitted to them. We fit ZEISS lenses in house, and you can have your eye exam at Visionary Optics as well. Bring your prescription or book with us. Our opticians will tell you which of the eight styles suits your prescription and which does not, because a strong prescription and a deep frame do not always work together.
Where can I see Titanium Museum in New York?
Visionary Optics is an Authorized Retailer for Titanium Museum, and the frames are kept at our Chelsea shop at 173 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10011. Call (212) 627-4488 and we can move a frame to our Upper East Side shop at 1409 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10075 or our Carroll Gardens shop at 315 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231. These are single pieces from small editions, so the frame is invoiced rather than sold through the cart, and we can ship it to you. Every frame is 100% authentic. The eight styles are grouped by department, which is the brand's own filing of its work, and by accession, which is its numbering of a release. Prescription sun lenses are fitted in house with ZEISS lenses, and we have been an independent optical practice in New York since 1989.
