Founded by a British and Italian designer duo united by a love of alternative music and independent design, Bevel has spent two decades quietly redefining what independent eyewear can be. Each Bevel frame is handmade in Fukui, Japan, the world's most exacting eyewear-making tradition, from premium Japanese acetate and beta-titanium, finished by hand and built to outlast trends.

The Bevel collection moves between sculptural acetates, featherweight titanium, and combination frames where metal meets acetate at the temple. The signature 8mm acetate line builds presence through thickness; the titanium pieces achieve the opposite, nearly weightless on the face. Substance with style, in the brand's own words.

Why Bevel at Visionary Optics?

Bevel is an independent eyewear brand designed in New York and handcrafted in Japan since 1999. Founded by Richard Mewha and his partners, the brand is known for color palettes inspired by cosmetics, distinctive material combinations, and a quiet, logo-free aesthetic that favors substance over trend.

Visionary Optics carries Bevel optical frames and sunglasses across our three NYC locations, spanning their acetate, milled titanium, and BetaPlast collections — Bevel's proprietary titanium-acetate hybrid introduced in 1999.
