NYC's Largest Luxury Eyewear Collection

MYKITA MYLON

MYLON is MYKITA's 3D-printed line, and the clearest expression of what the house does when it engineers a frame from nothing but a brief. Built from polyamide rather than cut from sheet or wire, MYLON frames take shapes that neither acetate nor metal can hold, at a weight that disappears on the face. Visionary Optics carries the full MYLON range alongside the wider MYKITA collection at our Upper East Side, Chelsea, and Carroll Gardens stores.

Why MYKITA MYLON at Visionary Optics?

MYLON is MYKITA's 3D printed eyewear, built by selective laser sintering from polyamide powder at the company's own Berlin manufactory. Each frame is printed as a single continuous piece, then tumbled, dyed and finished by hand. Models like Kepler, Canna and Concord take sculptural forms that could not be milled or molded, with no seams, screws or welded joints anywhere in the front.

We carry both MYLON and MYLON Hybrid at all three Visionary Optics locations, on the Upper East Side, in Chelsea, and in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Hybrid models such as Sindal, Bilimbi and Guava pair the printed polyamide front with a stainless steel structure. As an independent practice we fit every MYLON frame with ZEISS prescription lenses, and most single vision prescriptions are ready the same day.

Sintered polyamide is light, flexible and returns to shape rather than holding a bend, which makes MYLON one of the most comfortable ways to wear a bold frame. Our opticians adjust MYLON with heat in store, the same way acetate is fitted, and we can transfer any frame between our locations on request.

The Visionary Optics Difference

3D Printed in Berlin

MYLON frames are laser sintered from polyamide powder at the MYKITA HAUS, then hand finished. Visionary Optics is an authorized MYKITA retailer and every frame we sell is 100% authentic.

MYLON and MYLON Hybrid

Pure MYLON frames carry MD colour codes and are entirely 3D printed. MYLON Hybrid, with MH codes, adds a stainless steel structure behind the printed front for rigidity and a slimmer profile.

Same-Day ZEISS Lenses

We fit MYLON frames with ZEISS prescription lenses at all three New York locations, and most single vision prescriptions are completed the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MYKITA MYLON?
MYLON is MYKITA's 3D printed eyewear, made from a fine polyamide powder fused in layers by a laser rather than cut from sheet or block material. MYKITA prints MYLON at its own Berlin manufactory, then each frame is tumbled, dyed and hand finished. The result is a frame with no seams, no screws and no welded joints anywhere in the front. Visionary Optics is an authorized MYKITA retailer and every frame we sell is 100% authentic.
How are 3D printed glasses made?
The process is selective laser sintering. A laser traces each cross section of the frame into a bed of polyamide powder, fusing it, then a fresh layer of powder is spread and the next slice is drawn. A frame is built from thousands of these layers. Because the geometry is drawn rather than machined, MYLON frames such as Kepler, Canna and Concord take sculptural shapes that would be impossible to mill or injection mold, and the finished frame is a single continuous piece.
How much do MYKITA MYLON frames cost?
At Visionary Optics, MYLON frames run approximately $619 to $699, with most at $659 to $669. The range is narrower than MYKITA's other collections because the material and process are consistent across the line. Prescription lenses are priced separately.
What is the difference between MYLON and MYLON Hybrid?
MYLON frames are entirely 3D printed polyamide, and their colour codes begin with MD, as in MD1 Pitch Black or MD34 Indigo. MYLON Hybrid pairs a 3D printed polyamide front with a stainless steel structure, and those codes begin with MH, as in MH6 Pitch Black or MH60 Slate Grey. Hybrid models such as Sindal, Bilimbi, Guava and Kolding combine the sculptural forms of MYLON with the rigidity and slim profile of steel.
Are 3D printed frames durable, and can they be adjusted?
Yes to both. Sintered polyamide is flexible and returns to shape rather than holding a bend the way metal does. MYLON frames can be adjusted with heat, similar to how an optician adjusts acetate, and our opticians do this in store at the time of fitting. The material is also lighter than acetate at the same thickness, which is why MYLON frames can carry bold, chunky shapes without feeling heavy on the face.
Can MYKITA MYLON frames take prescription lenses?
Yes. We fit MYLON frames with ZEISS prescription lenses, and most single vision prescriptions can be completed the same day at any of our three New York locations. We work with ZEISS lenses exclusively. Because MYLON fronts are printed as a single piece rather than rimmed in metal, they hold lenses securely across a wide range of prescriptions, and we are happy to advise on lens thickness for stronger corrections.
Where can I buy MYKITA MYLON in NYC?
Visionary Optics is an authorized MYKITA retailer with three New York locations: 1409 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10075 on the Upper East Side, 173 7th Ave, New York, NY 10011 in Chelsea, and 315 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231 in Carroll Gardens. We are an independent optical practice, so you can try MYLON alongside frames from more than 25 independent eyewear brands, complete an eye exam on site, and have most single vision ZEISS prescriptions cut the same day. We carry both MYLON and MYLON Hybrid in optical and sunglasses, including Sindal, Bilimbi, Guava, Kolding and Kepler, at all three boutiques, transfer frames between locations on request, and ship nationwide with or without prescription lenses.
